THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The new timetable for train services in the country will come into effect Wednesday. The reformed timetable will have an impact on the state. Malabar and Venad will arrive earlier. Eranad will depart from Thiruvananthapuram five minutes later than usual time.
Thiruvananthapuram-Madurai Amrita Express will be extended to Rameswaram but will be effective only after the commissioning of the new Pamban Bridge. Thiruvananthapuram North (Kochuveli) – Yashwantpura AC weekly superfast train will be converted into express. The train number has also been changed.
The timetable change comes after a gap of one and a half years. Timings of Vande Metro, Amrit Bharat Express and 136 Vande Bharat Express have also been changed. The speed of Mangalore-Thiruvananthapuram Malabar Express will be increased by 30 minutes. The speed of the Chennai-Guruvayur Express will be increased by 35 minutes.
Madurai-Guruvayur Express, Kottayam-Nilambur Express will be 15 minutes faster and Mangaluru-Kannur Passenger will be 40 minutes faster.
The speed of Kollam–Chennai Ananthapuri and Ernakulam–Bilaspur trains will be increased by 15 minutes and 10 minutes respectively.
Mangaluru-Thiruvananthapuram Malabar Express will reach Ernakulam at 3.10 am, Kollam at 6.25 am and Thiruvananthapuram at 8.30 am. At present the train reaches Thiruvananthapuram at 9 am.
Chennai-Guruvayur Express will leave Chennai at 10.20 am instead of 9.45 am. Thiruvananthapuram-Shornur Venad Express will depart at 5.20 am instead of 5.25 am. It will reach Ernakulam North at 9.40 am.
Thoothukudi – Palakkad Palaruvi Express will leave Kollam at 4.35 instead of 4.50. The train will arrive early at stations from Tirunelveli to Ernakulam North.
Thiruvananthapuram-Mangaluru Eranad Express will leave Thiruvananthapuram at 3.40 am instead of 3.35 am.
Kollam-Thiruvananthapuram passenger will depart at 6.58 am instead of 6.50 am.
Eranakulam-Thiruvananthapuram Vanchinad Express will depart at 5.10am instead of 5.05am.
Kochuveli – Nagercoil passenger will leave at 1.25 pm instead of 1.40 pm
