Couple's scooter hits lorry; tragic end for 60-year-old woman in Alappuzha

ALAPPUZHA: A 60-year-old woman met with a tragic end after a scooter hit a lorry in Alappuzha. The deceased has been identified as Rathi, the wife of Thanneermukkom native Appukkuttan. The accident occurred near Pattanakkad Mahadeva Temple on the national highway, where a scooter carrying Rathi and Appukkuttan was hit by a lorry travelling in the same direction. Rathi fell on the road and was run over by the lorry. Appukkuttan survived with some minor injuries. He has been shifted to the hospital. Rathi's body has been shifted to the Paravur Taluk Hospital.

The other day, a youth was killed in Thiruvananthapuram after a motorbike collided with an autorickshaw. The deceased is Aruvikkara native Shalu Ajay (21). The condition of Shalu's friend remains critical. The accident took place at around 11.30 pm on Tuesday. The bike and auto-rickshaw involved in the accident were completely damaged. The youth who was with Shalu has been admitted to the Medical College. The Aaruvikkara police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
