CHENNAI: The National Green Tribunal once again criticized Kerala for dumping hospital waste in Tirunelveli. The Chennai bench of the tribunal questioned the fact that the authorities did not take strict action against the litterers. The bench also demanded an answer from Kerala for dumping waste in Tamil Nadu. It should be clarified why the action against the hospitals is delayed. The Tribunal ordered that a reply should be given when the case is re-considered on the 20th.
In the report given by the State Pollution Control Board to the tribunal, the locations used to dump waste were specified. The report also states that show-cause notices have been issued to these institutions. The tribunal also asked why there was a delay in taking action against those institutions including RCC. Kerala replied that it has sought an explanation from the hospitals. Kerala had removed the garbage from Tirunelveli following the Green Tribunal order.
