KOCHI: Three accused in the financial fraud case registered in connection with the dance programme in which Uma Thomas MLA sustained injuries, have approached the Kerala High Court seeking anticipatory bail. The pleas were filed by the organizers Mridanga Vision MD Nigosh Kumar, CEO Shameer Abdullah Rahim and the fourth accused and Nigosh Kumar's wife Mini.
The anticipatory bail plea will be considered by the vacation single bench of the high court today. In the second case registered by the Palarivattom police, charges of financial fraud and breach of trust have been filed against the three accused. M Nigosh Kumar is presently in police custody in the stadium accident case. In this situation, the Palarivattom police may also record arrest in the financial fraud case.
More people are approaching the police, pointing that they have been cheated by paying money for the event in Kochi. It is in this situation the police decided to examine the financial transactions of Mridanga Vision. A new case has been registered for this. The bank accounts of Mridanga Vision have been frozen. The income tax department is also investigating the money transactions. The police will also record the statements of other agencies and individuals who collaborated with the organizers, Mridanga Vision.
Meantime, it is a setback for the police as actress Divya Unni, who led the dance performance, has returned to the USA, while investigating the financial transactions. Divya Unni has been a permanent resident in the US for the past few years. The police have decided to summon Divya Unni back, if necessary, after recording the statements of the accused in the case.
