CHENNAI: Six people died and several were injured in a massive explosion at a firecracker factory in Tamil Nadu. The deceased were all labourers. The accident occurred at a firecracker factory in Sattur, Virudhunagar, early yesterday morning. The explosion took place at Sairam Fireworks Factory in Sattur. Four rooms of the factory were completely destroyed in the blast.
The exact cause of the accident has not been determined yet. It is suspected that it could have been due to a short circuit or a fire caused by explosives materials. The fire force and police carried out rescue operations. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed his condolences and announced that a compensation of four lakh rupees will be provided to the families of the deceased.
