NILAMBUR: MLA PV Anvar, who was arrested in the Nilambur forest office vandalism case, has been granted bail. The Nilambur First Class Magistrate Court granted bail to the MLA. Anvar got bail after 15 hours of his arrest. The court rejected the police's request for Anvar's custody.
Anvar has been granted bail with conditions. The conditions are that PV Anvar has to deposit Rs 50000 as bail amount and Rs 35000 for destruction of public property and he has to appear before the investigating officer every Wednesday, etc.
Anvar shared a note on Facebook after getting bail. 'Dear ones, bail has been granted. Greetings to those who stood by me. See you in person' Anvar wrote on Facebook.
The Nilambur police arrested Anvar at his house in Othayi last night. He was arrested by a team led by Nilambur CI Sunil Pallikal. Anvar's arrest came after DMK activists vandalized the Nilambur Forest Office in protest against the death of tribal youth Mani in a wild elephant attack. The Nilambur police have registered a case against 11 persons including Anvar under Section 132 of the Indian Penal Code for use of force against police officers, under Section 121 for use of force against forest officers, assembling for assaults and destruction of public property under the PDPP Act.
