THRISSUR: PS Janish, the owner of an event management company, has been arrested in connection with an incident where Uma Thomas MLA was injured after falling from the gallery during a dance program at Kaloor stadium. Janish was nabbed by the police from Thrissur. Despite being directed by the High Court, Janish had failed to appear before the investigation team. He is the third accused in the case.
The other day, the High Court had raised severe criticism against the organisers of the dance program during which Uma Thomas sustained serious injuries. The High Court asked why the program wasn't stopped even for a short time after the MLA fell and sustained an injury.
"Don't the organisers have no such thing as humanity? Didn't they have the responsibility to investigate what happened to Uma Thomas MLA after she fell from the gallery? Would anything have happened if the program had been stopped for half an hour? If this is the condition of an MLA, what would be the condition if an ordinary person meets with such an accident?" the court asked.
The court noted that the organisers exhibited cruelty by deciding to go ahead with the program even after Uma Thomas fell and sustained serious injuries. "The organisers went ahead with the program even after Uma Thomas fell and injured her head. They could have waited till Uma Thomas was taken to the hospital," the court added.
The single bench raised the criticism while considering the bail applications of the accused in the financial fraud case registered by the police in connection with the dance program. The police had registered a non-bailable case against the organisers of the dance program on charges of financial fraud.
