NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the 'BHARATPOL' portal launched by the CBI with the aim of improving the functioning of central and state investigative agencies and international-level investigations with the help of modern technology. BHARATPOL — broadcast hub for assistance and real-time action against transnational crimes via international police cooperation — will be of assistance at any stage where Interpol's assistance is required abroad.
Amit Shah said that 'BHARATPOL' is a mechanism to arrest and bring to justice those who abscond from India after committing a crime. "This is a step towards monitoring global challenges and modernizing internal mechanisms. The three new criminal laws brought by the Modi government ensure prosecution of fugitives." Shah urged the CBI to train state agencies on BHARATPOL's operation and new criminal laws.
