THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The DNA test results of the charred body found in the unfinished building inside PA Aziz Engineering College in Karakulam, Nedumangad, have come out. DNA results confirm that the body belongs to Muhammad Abdul Aziz Thaha (EM Thaha), the chairman of the college. The result has been handed over to Thaha's family.
The body was discovered on December 31, in the unfinished building on the college campus. Around 8:30 AM, a college employee noticed smoke coming from the hall of the under-construction building. He quickly ran to the location and attempted to extinguish the fire by breaking the window panes, but by the time he arrived, the body had already been completely burned. He then notified the police and fire department about the incident.
Thaha's mobile phone was found near the body. His car was also found on the college premises. He had been living at the college office for the last one month. Police said that Thaha had a tax liability of around 60 crore rupees. They also confirmed that Thaha committed suicide due to mental distress caused by financial burdens. The body, currently kept in the mortuary, will be placed for public viewing at the college on Sunday. The funeral will take place in Pallimukku, Kollam. Thaha is survived by his wife Shobitha Thaha, and children Dr. Sanoj Thaha (KIMS Hospital), and Dr. Suraj Thaha (Mumbai).
