KOCHI: The police have frozen the Facebook account of the person who cyberattacked High Court Justice Devan Ramachandran. The account of P K Suresh Kumar has been frozen.

A case was registered based on a complaint filed by high court lawyer and public activist Kulathur Jaisingh seeking action for the cyber-attack on Devan Ramachandran. Sections such as defamation and attempt to riot have been charged.

Suresh Kumar's account was frozen while the investigation into this was going on. The complainant had demanded that strict action be taken against P K Suresh Kumar, asserting that the law does not allow a citizen to insult judges of the court for issuing judgments or for participating in functions.

The cyber-attack against Justice Devan Ramachandran began after the high court ordered that strict action, including fines, would be taken against officials who did not comply with the high court's order to remove illegal flex boards and festoons in public places.

As the authorities took action to implement the high court's order, some people made abusive remarks on social media. Advocate Jaisingh filed a complaint with the state police chief and the Kochi Cyber Crime Police Station against this. A team led by cybercrime assistant commissioner M K Murali is investigating the case.
