PALAKKAD: Vigilance raids conducted at various check posts in Palakkad seized Rs 1.77 lakh. The raids were conducted following widespread complaints of officials accepting bribes. The money was found in the raid conducted in Walayar, Govindapuram, Gopalapuram and Nadupuni check posts. The lightning raid was from 11 pm on January 10 to 3 am on January 11. It was found that the officials were widely accepting bribes from goods vehicles from other states, gravel lorries, lorries carrying cattle, and pilgrim vehicles including those going to Sabarimala, passing through RTO check posts.

The vigilance seized a bribe of Rs 1,49,490 collected from drivers. Vigilance also recommended action against the accused.
