THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CBI additional SP TP Anandakrishnan, who was the investigating officer in the violinist Balabhaskar death case, ruled out chances of murder. He was talking with ‘Kerala Kaumudi’. Anandakrishnan is now the CBI ASP in Chennai.

“Balabhaskar was not killed by a planned car accident on the national highway, and the accident had nothing to do with gold smuggling as alleged by his father KC Unni. How can someone target Balu who was sleeping in the back seat of the car? There is not even an iota of doubt left in this regard.” Said TP Anandakrishnan despite Balu’s father terming the CBI investigation as ‘unsatisfactory’.

TP Anandakrishnan :

“The Superintendent of Customs at Thiruvananthapuram Airport was accused of gold smuggling in a case in which DRI and CBI issued a charge sheet. In the case that occurred eight months after Balu's death, his manager Prakashan Thambi, his friend, Vishnu Somasundaram and violinist Abdul Jameel were accused. It was found that the friends entered into the gold smuggling cabal only after Balu’s death.

Balu's car was speeding when it overtook the KSRTC bus at Attingal. Excessive speed and carelessness caused the accident. Even Balu’s wife Lakshmi admitted this in court. Balu, who was sleeping in the back seat, got thrown to the front and was found stuck between the two seats. Lakshmi was also seriously injured.

A scientific examination of the phone call data revealed nothing unusual. The CBI has given clearance to pay the insurance amount of Rs 93 lakh on the policy in Balu's name to the legal claimant. LIC had asked the CBI if there was any objection to paying the amount to the wife. It was just eight months before the accident that Balu took the Rs 82 lakh policy.

Kalabhavan Sobi lied to the police and the public about having information about the gold smuggling group. A case has been filed against Sobi for providing false information and misleading the investigation. Driver Arjun is the only accused. A case was registered for dangerous driving, causing death and involuntary manslaughter.”
