BENGALURU: Karnataka Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar sustained injuries after her car crashed into a tree. The accident happened on the highway near Kittur in Belgavi Tuesday morning. The driver swerved the car to avoid hitting a dog that was crossing the road.
The front part of the Innova HyCross car was completely damaged in the accident. The visuals of the accident have surfaced. Police said the impact of the accident was reduced due to the presence of airbags in the vehicle.
Laxmi Hebbalkar is the Woman and Child Welfare Minister in the Siddaramaiah-led government. She was travelling with her brother Channaraj Hattiholi, a member of the Karnataka Legislative Council. They were returning after attending the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meeting held in Bengaluru last evening.
It is reported that 49-year-old Laxmi has fractured her leg. The two have been admitted in the hospital and will be discharged in two days. Her brother has a minor injury on his head. The driver and her gunman suffered minor injuries.
