Recently, actress Archana Kavi opened up about her battle with depression and her failed marriage. She is back again on the big screen after a decade with the Tovino movie 'Identity'. And now the actress delved more into her life and gave her take on marrying again.
Archana Kavi's interview with a popular magazine:
“People getting killed in drunken brawls or doing drugs are quotidian things in Kerala. But if someone reveals about going through mental stress, people will judge them badly. Senior people mostly see these things through a myopic eye. They believe that youths are going superfluous with names like depression, and mental stress. They have not gauged the seriousness of the issue. Some people would even ask why we youths are going through such mental stress and tension.
Some people going through mental stress will take treatment but won't reveal this in public. They fear getting ostracized. Even my mother warned me not to reveal such personal things online as she said it would impede my chances of getting married again. I don’t know whether I will marry again but these things are not something to be kept hidden.
My marriage and the issues I faced were personal. But when things started to get worse, I told my parents that my marriage was not working. They tried to solve the issue like every other parent. I have just one advice for the girls about to get married. Just get into some work and earn a living. Don’t drop your source of income for marriage. Be independent first, then marriage.
