THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department announced a yellow alert for four districts in Kerala on the coming Sunday. Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts will be on yellow alert after IMD predicted chances of heavy rainfall.
The Meteorological Department has also informed a possibility of light rain at isolated places in the Thiruvananthapuram and Pathanamthitta districts of Kerala in the next three hours on Thursday. Meanwhile, no rain warnings have been issued in other parts of Kerala till Saturday. Despite the rain warning, IMD did not ban fishing activities in Kerala and Lakshadweep coastal regions.
However, strong winds of 35 to 45 km per hour are likely over the south Tamil Nadu coast, Kanyakumari region and adjoining Gulf of Mannar from Thursday to Sunday. Occasional gusts of up to 55 km/h and bad weather conditions are possible. Authorities have thus banned fishing activities in the Tamil Nadu coast till Sunday.
