RAIPUR: Twelve Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. The clash occurred this morning around 9 a.m. in a forest in southern Bijapur. The exchange of fire continued until evening. There were no casualties reported among the security personnel. Search operations for additional Maoists are ongoing in the area.
In another incident in Bijapur, two CRPF commandos were injured when an IED planted by Maoists exploded.
A significant force was deployed for the anti-Maoist operation, including the State Police District Reserve Guard (DRG) units from three districts, five battalions of the CRPF’s COBRA unit, and personnel from the CRPF’s 229th Battalion.
