'Invest just Rs 21,000, fake videos of PM Modi'; Cyber fraud panic spreads across India

KOZHIKODE: Cyber ​​gangs are spreading fake TV channel videos on social media in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Mukesh Ambani, and even former Infosys CEO NR Narayana Murthy to lure money from people. The fake video spreading on social media is intended to persuade people.

The video tells about a project in which the central government invested more than 100 million dollars to prevent poverty and inflation. It promises people Rs 150 crores per month. To avail it, people are made to invest 21,000 rupees. The video requests people to do the transaction through mobile phones and ensure total safety.

The video uses audio and images of Prominent news anchors Arnab Goswami, Palki Sharma Upadhyay, former Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das, Central Government's Chief Economic Adviser V. Ananta Nageswaran stock analyst PR Sundar, Chartered Accountant and YouTuber Rachna Ranade as if they are endorsing the scheme. Police found that the voice, pronunciation, facial expressions and gestures were eerily similar to the real ones. The police are investigating whether such fraud has taken place in Kerala.

The team will encourage you to invest money. There is a separate mobile app and link for this. The first few transactions will be rewarded. After gaining trust, the team will wheedle you to invest more money only to siphon it this time.
