NEW DELHI: Police have registered a case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his remark "We are now fighting the Indian State itself". The police action comes after Rahul's remark became controversial. Pan Bazar Police in Guwahati, Assam has registered a case against Rahul Gandhi on the complaint of Monjit Chetia. The complaint has been filed for allegedly creating a dangerous narrative that could incite unrest and separatist sentiments. The case is under Sections 152 and 197 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The complaint points out that Rahul Gandhi has declared war against the administration by making this remark and that Rahul Gandhi is saying this because of his frustration at constantly losing the elections. The complaint alleges that Rahul violates the limits of freedom of expression and poses a serious threat to public order and national security.
Rahul's controversial remarks were made on January 26, at the inauguration ceremony of the new Congress headquarters building in Delhi. Rahul's comment was that "the BJP and RSS have captured every single institution, and we are now fighting the BJP, the RSS, and the Indian State itself".
