THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The postmortem report of self-styled priest Neyyattinkara Gopan is out. There were two blocks in his heart valve. He was suffering from diabetes and also had wounds on his legs. The report said the results of an internal examination should be received to clarify whether the diseases were the cause of death.
The initial postmortem report had pointed that there was nothing unusual in Gopan's death. There was no injury on his body. It was also found that there were no signs of poison entering the body or serious damage to the internal organs. There was presence of bhasma in his mouth. It can only be clear through examination whether it has entered the body.
The police had demanded that the results of the examination of the internal organs be received quickly. Requesting this, a notice will be issued through the court to the forensic laboratory director, chemical examination laboratory chief chemical examiner and head of the pathology department.
Following complaints about Gopan's death, his burial crypt was demolished last Thursday and the body was taken out and a postmortem was conducted at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. The body was in a sitting position in the grave. There were bhasma and puja items around the body. It was filled with puja items up to the heart.
After the initial postmortem report came out that there was no abnormality in his death, Gopan's body was placed in a new tomb called Rishipeedam built at the same place. Family members had informed that pujas would be performed for 41 days under the leadership of sanyasis.
