THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Greeshma, the accused in the Sharon murder case, remained silent after hearing the verdict. Although her eyes welled up with tears upon hearing the Neyyattinkara Sessions Court sentence her to death, she soon became expressionless. Meanwhile, Sharon’s mother and family broke down in court, expressing their relief at finally receiving justice for their son’s death.
"Justice has been served for my son. A thousand thanks to the righteous judge. It was my innocent son’s cries for justice that God heard through the judge," said Sharon’s mother tearfully.
The court noted in its judgment that Sharon had suffered excruciating pain and his internal organs were found in a decayed state. The court. which observed that the murder was meticulously planned, pointed out that there was no legal provision against awarding the maximum punishment in such cases. Based on 48 pieces of circumstantial evidence, the court sentenced Greeshma to the death penalty.
The court remarked that Sharon was deeply in love with Greeshma and he continued to love her even on his deathbed. Sharon did not wish for Greeshma to be punished. The court observed that whether Sharon had a complaint or not is not relevant and Greeshma cannot be given age relaxation. It observed that Greeshma plotted to kill Sharon even while maintaining their romantic relationship.
