THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Greeshma, the first accused in the Parassala Sharon murder case, has also been given the first number in prison. Greeshma is the first prisoner of the Attakkulangara Women's Prison, this year. Greeshma was given the number 1/2025.
Greeshma is lodged in cell number 11 in block 14 of the prison with two remand prisoners. She is the 24th inmate here. Although people sentenced to death are to be lodged in a separate cell, in this case it is different as there is a chance of appealing. Greeshma was housed in the same cell during trial. However, she was transferred to the Mavelikkara Women's Special Prison in September last year following a complaint from her fellow prisoners.
Greeshma, the first accused in the Sharon murder case, was sentenced to death by the court. Greeshma's uncle Nirmala Kumaran Nair was given three years in prison. A fine of Rs 2 lakh was imposed on him. The quantum of sentence was pronounced by Neyyattinkara Additional Sessions Court Judge A M Basheer.
On October 14 in 2022, Greeshma mixed a pesticide laden ayurvedic drink and gave it to her lover Sharon Raj. Greeshma decided to kill Sharon in order to avoid him from her arranged marriage with a soldier. The police had found that Greeshma's mother and uncle had supported her. Sharon died on October 25. The case was investigated by a special team led by D Shilpa, who was the Thiruvananthapuram Rural SP then.
