THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian meteorological department warned about a temperature rise of up to three degrees Celsius in Kerala until Wednesday. The public has been advised to follow the instructions issued by the State Disaster Management Authority.
High heat can cause serious health problems such as sunstroke, sunburn and dehydration.
Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Drink as much fresh water as possible. Keep drinking water even if you are not thirsty.
Avoid dehydrating alcohol, coffee, tea, and carbonated soft drinks during the day.
Wear loose, light-coloured cotton clothes.
Wear footwear when going out. It would be better to use an umbrella or a hat.
Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Encourage the use of ORS solution, Sambharam etc.
In places like markets, buildings, waste collection and deposit centers (dumping yards) there is a high possibility of fire outbreaks and spread.
In educational institutions, clean drinking water should be ensured for the students and air circulation should be ensured in the classrooms. Water availability should also be ensured in the examination halls during the examination period.
Cattle should not be allowed to graze in the midday sun and other domestic animals should not be tied up in the sun.
