KIZHAKKAMBALAM: The Kunnathunad police arrested Nassar (42) in the case of murdering his wife by suffocating her in the middle of the night while she was sleeping. Nisha (38) was the victim of the cruelty of her husband.

Nasser has been under treatment for mental illness for years. The post-mortem revealed that the murder took place after 2 am yesterday. Their son Asif, who was pursuing his studies by staying at a relative's house, had reached home on Monday night. After an argument with his father, Asif slept at his relative's house. Nassar has given a statement to the police that he called his wife to his own room from the next room at 2 am.

Some people saw Nasser leaving the house at 4 am and walking towards the mosque. Yesterday morning, Nasser reached a neighbour's house and said that his wife, who had gone to bed at night, did not wake up although he called her. Those who heard this came to the house to find Nisha's dead body on the bed with a bleeding nose. They immediately informed the Kunanthunad police. The police confirmed that it was a murder after examining the post-mortem report.
As Nasser is sometimes violent, his son has been staying at his relative's house for a long time. Their daughter Tafseera is staying at the Arabic College Hostel in Aluva for her studies. Nisha is a native of Nellikuzhi.
