The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has stepped in to uncover the mystery behind the suspicious deaths of 17 people from three families in Rajouri, Jammu, near the Pakistan border. Forensic investigations have already revealed that a lethal poison caused the deaths, leading to nervous system failure. The fact that all the victims were relatives adds to the intrigue. The poisoning was first noticed among a few individuals who had attended a ceremony last month and consumed food. Five members of a seven-member family were the initial victims of the poison. On January 19, twelve more people from two families died under similar circumstances, prompting intervention by health experts and investigative agencies.

The true cause of the deaths, which has alarmed the villagers, remains unidentified. There is strong suspicion that someone deliberately contaminated water or food with a deadly poison, leading to mass deaths. The village has since been declared a containment zone, and security forces have been deployed. Water and food distribution have been taken over by the army, and contact with the affected families has been restricted. Around 200 relatives of the deceased have been placed in isolation. Supplies of water and food are being transported to the village from outside.

The suspicion that Pakistan, which has been employing every possible tactic, including covert operations against India, might be behind the mysterious deaths in Rajouri, led to the NIA being tasked with conducting a comprehensive investigation. With infiltration through the Srinagar border effectively curbed, Pakistan is suspected of creating disturbances along the Jammu border. Many believe that the mass poisonings could be part of a strategy to incite fear and instability among the population. It is clear that the incident was meticulously planned and executed, making it difficult to uncover quickly. The post-mortem of the deceased revealed signs of severe poisoning in the nervous system and expert laboratory tests corroborated that poison was indeed the cause of death.

A high-level committee comprising senior officials from various central government departments has been stationed in Rajouri to lead the investigation. Five individuals from the affected families remain in critical condition in the hospital. Tests are ongoing to identify the specific poison used. The NIA has been brought in to find the forces behind the incident. The village of Badhal in Rajouri, located near the Pakistan border, is now like a ghost village. Many families have fled or been relocated. The residents will only return without fear once the true cause of the poisonings is identified and explained. The village will return to normalcy only by intensifying the investigation and completely eliminating the mysteries behind the death.
