IDUKKI: More details have been released in the incident where a body was found burnt inside a car in Perumkandam, Thodupuzha. The police have concluded that the person committed suicide by setting fire to the parked car. The deceased has been identified as Sibi (60), a native of Kumaramangalam. He is a retired Cooperative Bank employee in Kumaramangalam.
The police said that it would be possible to confirm whether Sibi himself died only after scientific tests. The police have received information that Sibi bought petrol from a nearby petrol pump. The body has been shifted to Kalamassery Medical College Hospital. The Kalloorkad police have registered a case of unnatural death and started an investigation. The forensic team reached the spot where the car was burnt and collected samples.
The incident took place around 1:30 pm today. A person was burnt to death in a car parked in an empty field in Perumkandam Narakkuzhi. The locals were the first to see the car. They immediately informed the fire brigade and the police. The car was completely burnt even before the fire brigade arrived. The body inside the car was in an unrecognizable condition. The car that was burned was a Maruti 800. Sibi's children arrived and identified the car.
Relatives say that Sibi left home in the morning to buy something from a shop. Some locals had seen Sibi driving. Locals say that Sibi's house is four kilometres away from this location.
