NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to visit the US next month to bolster ties with the new president of the United States Donald Trump. PM Modi on Monday had a telephone conversation with Trump. It is reported that Modi has been invited to the White House to discuss immigration issues. The date has not been scheduled.
Trump told reporters about talking with PM Modi over the phone and informed them that the Indian PM would visit the White House in February. According to Trump, PM Modi also gave assent to initiate actions to return illegal immigrants to India.
Describing Trump as a dear friend, PM Modi congratulated the newly sworn president in a post on X. Both leaders expressed their commitment to a mutually beneficial partnership. We will work together for the welfare of the people, global peace, prosperity and security," Modi said.
Trump took office as the US President on the 20th. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar represented India in the inauguration ceremony. India’s external minister also handed over Trump a personal letter from PM Modi during the visit.
