Trailer collides with van; 15 people including Malayali killed in Saudi

KOLLAM: 15 people, including a Malayalee, were killed in a road accident near Baish in Jizan Economic City, Saudi Arabia. The deceased Malayalee has been identified as Vishnu Prasad Pillai (31), a native of Keralapuram in Kollam. He was an engineer.

The accident occurred the other day. A van carrying 26 employees from ACIC Services Company’s Jizan Aramco project, collided with a trailer which came from the opposite direction. Among the deceased, nine, including Vishnu Prasad, were Indian nationals. Saudi fire forces and rescue workers managed to extract the occupants from the van.

Eleven people who sustained serious injuries are currently receiving intensive care in hospitals in Jizan and Abha. Vishnu Prasad was the son of Keralapuram native Prasad and Radha. He had been working as an engineer in the company for three years. His brother is Manu Prasad Pillai.
