THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: “When the first time I got confirmation that it was cancer, I lost my composure. Soon, I trained my mind to accept reality. And then I decided to go for a head-on-head battle. Now, I have emerged victorious and am slowly returning to my old health.” said actor Maniyanpilla Raju.
“It all started six months ago as ear pain. It soon turned into frequent headaches. I consulted with ENT doctors 12 times and took medicines for the pain. Nothing worked. Doctors then suggested an MRI scan. Though reluctant at first, I complied later. The result confirmed my worst fear.
It was found in two places in the throat. After one surgery, two chemo and 30 radiations, the disease was eradicated. I have now trouble swallowing spicy food. Apart from that, things are merrier.
After doctors made it clear that I needed to undergo surgery, the test results were forwarded to my doctor friends in US. They too acknowledged the need for surgery. When I found out about the disease, some people suggested I go for Ayurveda while others backed homoeopathy. Whatever, I was determined to fight it and it yielded the result.
I am now participating in TV programs again, seeing relatives and getting back to my best. But some people are busy spreading stories that I am enduring a slow death. It is normal for anyone to lose weight and witness a change in sound during cancer treatment.
My new film ‘Thudarum’ with Mohanlal is about to be released. And meanwhile, there are ongoing plans to produce a movie starring Mohanlal.”
