"Strong action against institution and amendment to law": Investigation into suicide of school student in Tripunithara

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Education Department has ordered an inquiry into the suicide of a CBSE school student following ragging in Tripunithura. Minister V. Sivankutty informed that the Director of General Education has been asked to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident and suggest the next steps to be taken.

"Every school in the state is an institution that operates with a no objection certificate from the state government. All the children studying there are children of Kerala. The Director of General Education has been instructed to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident and suggest the next steps to be taken. If any activities that are not in line with the welfare of society are taking place in any school in the state, irrespective of the stream, it will be detected, stopped and strong action taken against the institution, and if necessary, an amendment to the law will be considered," the minister said in a statement.
