NEW DELHI: Minister of State Suresh Gopi said the tribal department should be handled by the upper caste people. He said that only if a Brahmin or a Naidu handles that department, there will be progress in the tribals issues. He said this while speaking at a BJP election campaign in Mayur Vihar in Delhi. Suresh Gopi said that he had wanted the tribal department.
'When I first became an MP in 2016, I have been telling Modiji that I don't want civil aviation and asked tribals. My wish is that a high caste person should become a tribal minister for them. If there is a tribal person qualified to be a minister, he should be made a minister for the upliftment of the upper castes, in our democratic system. This transformation should happen,' said Suresh Gopi.
‘It is not enough to just say what Kerala needs. The funds received should be spent properly. Bihar and Kerala were not separated in yesterday's budget. India will be made a developed country by 2047. The budget presented yesterday is for that. The BJP should get 71 seats in the next assembly elections in Kerala. The victory in Thrissur was achieved through hard work. It was the beginning of the inevitable,’ he said.
Many of Suresh Gopi's statements had turned controversial earlier. His statement that he wants to be born a Brahmin in his next birth, had sparked a controversy. He then responded to the questions related to this in a very harsh manner. Meanwhile, Suresh Gopi again made a statement describing himself as a person from a higher caste.
