NEW DELHI: Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi turned against the media for allegedly distorting his statements regarding the tribal affairs ministry. Suresh Gopi said his confessions were straight out of the heart with no ill intentions.

SURESH GOPI:

“Media distorted my comments. I expressed suggestions to bring leaders from backward classes to look after issues concerning forward-caste people adn vice versa. My words were pure and bereft of any ill design as they came straight from my heart. I still have the desire to head the tribal affairs ministry and do work for their betterment.

In case people felt my comments were repulsive, I am ready to withdraw them completely.

AIIMS is a surety to Kerala and in all probability, it will be heading to Alappuzha. The work for AIIMS will start before my tenure ends."

Earlier today, Minister of State Suresh Gopi said the tribal department should be handled by the upper caste people. He said that only if a Brahmin or a Naidu handles that department, there will be progress in the tribals' issues. He said this while speaking at a BJP election campaign in Mayur Vihar in Delhi. Suresh Gopi said that he had wanted the tribal department.
