THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sreethu, mother of the two-year-old girl killed in Balaramapuram, was arrested for extorting money with a fake job offer at Devaswom board. A financial fraud case is also being investigated.
According to the case, Sreethu gave a fake appointment order for the job of Section Officer in Devaswom Board to a man named Shiju and took Rs.10 lakhs from him. Police have currently received 10 complaints of financial fraud against her.
Sreethu told police that she handed over the entire money obtained through financial fraud to astrologer Devidasan to pay for the construction of her new house. According to the information given by the police, the PTA members of a school in the nearby area were victims of Sreethu's fraud. Many among them have now raised complaints against her.
Astrologer Devidasan told police that he last saw Sreethu almost six months back with a man. When enquired Sreethu introduced the man as her second husband. When asked if she divorced her former husband, Sreethu said she had not. Both of them came to the astrologer to seek blessings.
Police are investigating the phone call details and bank transactions between Sreethu and the astrologer.
