ALAPPUZHA: Anil Kumar (55) of Nettayam, Vattiyoorkavu in Thiruvananthapuram arrested in a fake appointment case, gave orders beating the originals to the victims he had cheated. In the case registered by the Mannancherry police the other day in which he cheated siblings for more than Rs 6 lakh, the orders given to people waiting for 'appointment' to the post of lab technician at Alappuzha Medical College and clerical post in the Fire Force, are proof of this.

The job fraud started with a fake order appointing a woman of Mannancherry and a lab technician at a private hospital in the city, to Alappuzha Medical College. If anyone sees the order with the same number, date, and wording as the order numbers in government orders, the round seal of the administrative officer, and the signature in green ink as that of an officer with a gazetted rank, no one will suspect anything.

After receiving an advance of Rs 1 lakh, he came with the appointment order and accepted the remaining amount from the lab technician. Taking advantage of the woman's trust, Anil Kumar secured a contract of more than Rs 3.5 lakh by promising to get his brother a job in the fire force. He prepared a dated government order in the name of the Department Kerala Fire and Rescue and the name of the Division Officer, Mukundapuram in Malappuram. The police arrested Anil Kumar after he showed this and received the promised amount.

The computers and printers used to print the fake appointment orders need to be taken into custody. The devices, including the phone and computer, will be subjected to scientific examination.

More behind fraud?
Although his son Abhilash, who was an accomplice in the fraud, was also arrested along with Anil, the police suspect that he had received support and help from other officials in preparing the orders and in convincing the candidates by visiting hospitals and government institutions.

Therefore, they believe that there are more people in the fraud gang. The police are trying to examine the phone call details of Anil Kumar and bank transactions and bring to light those behind the fraud. Meantime, more complaints have been received against him at Punnapra, Mannancherry and Cherthala stations. It has been directed to file case in all the complaints.
