MUMBAI: Indian cricketer Sanju Samson suffered an injury during the fifth T20 match against England. While batting, Sanju injured his finger when a delivery from Jofra Archer hit his hand on the third ball of the over. The team’s physiotherapist came onto the field to assess the injury. Despite hitting a six and two boundaries in the same over, Sanju was dismissed in the following over.
Sanju scored 16 runs in the first over but was dismissed on the fifth ball of the second over bowled by Mark Wood. Although he was out in the second over, Sanju achieved a rare milestone in the Indian jersey. By hitting a six on the first ball of the innings, he became only the third Indian cricketer to do so in a T20 match.
Prior to Sanju, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal had also smashed a six on the very first ball of a T20 match. Bollywood actor Aamir Khan was spotted in the gallery applauding Sanju's first six, and videos of the moment quickly went viral on social media. After Sanju's injury, Dhruv Jurel, who was not originally part of the playing eleven, replaced him as the wicketkeeper.
