THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The construction of the MLA Hostel, which is being built with modern facilities, will be completed before December 25. More than 55% of the construction is complete. The new building is coming up replacing the Pampa Block in the MLA Hostel complex. Pampa Block was demolished due to age.
67 flats and two suites are being built on 12 floors, including two basement floors. Each will have an area of 1,200 to 1,300 square feet. Each flat will have two bedrooms with balcony facilities, a living area, a dining room, a kitchen and a work area.
The construction of the building complex was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The 40-meter-high building was designed by the Public Works Department.
Construction began on August 27, 2023, with a target of completion in January 2026. The cost of the building, which is being built by Uralungal Labor Contract Cooperative Society, is Rs. 76 crore 96 lakh. Uralungal will be in charge of maintaining the building for five years.
