MALAPPURAM: A newly married woman was found dead in her house in yet another shocking case of marriage dispute in the state. 18-year-old Shaima Siniver, who got married last Friday was found dead today. Police said the bride was not interested in the marriage but had to yield to the family’s pressure.

It is reported that Shaima’s boyfriend also attempted suicide and is currently undergoing treatment. Shaima lived in her father's brother's house after her father died of a heart attack two years back.

The marriage ceremony on Friday was according to religious rituals. Although married, Shaima stayed at her uncle’s house. The girl was in love with a 19-year-old teen, also her neighbour. She was interested in marrying him but the family turned down the proposal. Learning about her marriage, Shaima’s 19-year-old beau cut his vein and attempted suicide. He is now undergoing treatment at Manjeri Hospital.

In the police investigation, it was found that the girl was not interested in marriage and wanted to live with her boyfriend. The body of the girl has been shifted to Manjeri Medical College. Currently, the police have registered a case of unnatural death but will go for a detailed investigation soon. Statements from family members and neighbours have been collected. Shaima was found hanging dead around 6 pm on Monday.

On Tuesday, police will take a statement from her boyfriend who attempted suicide.
