The villagers informed the police after a dispute between the brothers, said Arvind Singh Dangi, in charge of Jatara police station. The deceased has been identified as Dhyani Singh Ghosh (84). He lived with his younger son Deshraj. He was undergoing treatment for an illness for a long time. He died on Sunday. Kishan, the elder son who lived outside the village, reached the spot after being informed.
Kishan made a fuss, saying that he wanted to perform the last rites of his father. But the younger son said his father wished him to do the last rites. This led to an argument between the two.
Police said that Kishan, who was intoxicated, insisted on cutting the body in half for doing the rites separately. After the police spoke to the brothers, Kishan was finally pacified and released.
