NAGPUR: Jasprit Bumrah, who was in excellent form during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, had suffered an injury in the final Test. During the match, he was taken to the hospital and subsequently missed the T20 series against England. However, his name was included in the ODI squad announced by the selection committee. Now, it is almost certain that Bumrah will also miss the upcoming ODI series against England, starting on February 6. Although the BCCI has not made an official announcement, his name is absent from the newly updated squad. Meanwhile, spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who delivered an outstanding performance in the T20 series against England, has secured a spot in the team. He was named the Player of the Series in the T20 matches.
The first ODI between India and England is scheduled to take place in Nagpur on February 6. Earlier, selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar had stated that Bumrah would miss the first two matches. Yesterday, Bumrah was spotted at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. The current pace attack in the ODI squad includes Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshit Rana. The spin department features Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, and Kuldeep Yadav.
