Modi to meet Trump; discussion on trade, defense cooperation and Indo-Pacific security to take place

NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting US on February 12th and 13th. With this Modi will have the distinction of being the first foreign leader to meet Donald Trump, in his second term as President.

The aim is to strengthen friendship with the Trump administration and expand bilateral cooperation. It is indicated that discussions will be held on trade, defense cooperation, and Indo-Pacific security.

The visit assumes significance in the context of US starting to deport illegal Indian immigrants. Modi will leave for the US after attending the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit to be held at the Grand Palais in France on February 10-11. The summit, hosted by the French government, will discuss the progress and regulations related to AI.
