THRISSUR: A foreign national met with a tragic end after suffering serious injuries following an elephant attack in Valparai. The deceased has been identified as Michael, a German citizen. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when Michael was travelling by bike on the Valparai-Pollachi road. He unexpectedly encountered a wild elephant on the road. In an attempt to escape, he tried to ride past the elephant from behind, but the elephant hit the bike, causing him to be thrown off.

As Michael got up from the ground, the elephant charged at him again and attacked. He suffered severe injuries and was first taken to the nearby Estate hospital. As his condition worsened, he was later shifted to a hospital in Pollachi, where he succumbed to his injuries. The attack was captured on video by passengers travelling in a vehicle behind him. Locals shouted and created noise to scare the elephant away, after which medical assistance was provided to Michael.
