Dispute over seat sharing in Kollam; Deputy Mayor Kollam Madhu resigns

KOLLAM: Crack widened inside LDF in Kollam following a dispute in seat-sharing talks over the mayor’s post. CPI resigned from the post of Corporation Deputy Mayor in disagreement. Deputy Mayor Kollam Madhu has resigned from the post. Along with him, the CPI has also resigned from the post of two Standing Committee Chairpersons.

According to the earlier made pact, CPM leader Prasanna Ernst should have resigned from the post of mayor after completing her term. But she refused to do so, which irked the CPI allies. Education Standing Committee Chairperson Savita Devi and Public Works Standing Chairman Sajeev Soman resigned along with Madhu.
