KOCHI: Manjusha, wife of former Kannur Additional District Magistrate Naveen Babu, wants a CBI or Crime Branch investigation into her husband's death. She informed that she agrees to a Crime Branch investigation under the supervision of a high-ranking official. The government also did not oppose the demand for a Crime Branch investigation. Subsequently, a division bench comprising Justice P.B. Sureshkumar and Justice Jobin Sebastian adjourned the appeal for an order.

Earlier, the single bench rejected an appeal demanding CBI investigation. The division bench was considering an appeal given against this. The petitioner has argued that she has no confidence in the investigation currently being conducted by the Special Investigation Team of the police and that the investigation should be conducted either by the CBI or Crime Branch. Senior advocate S. Sreekumar, appearing for the petitioner, argued that the hands of the Special Investigation Team are tied.

However, Director General of Prosecution T.A. Shaji argued for the government that no lapses could be pointed out in the investigation and that the demand for a CBI investigation could not be accepted. However, the demand for a Crime Branch investigation was not opposed. The appeal was then adjourned for judgment.
