What made Mammootty fast during shooting? Interesting revelation by Malayalam director

Mammootty, the megastar of the Malayalam film industry is known for delivering top-notch performances in all his films. Film lovers are rushing to the theatres now as Oru Vadakkan Veeragadha, one of his classic films has made its re-release. The film, which made its initial release in 1989 was a grand hit then and received both state and national awards. The re-release is also a tribute to the late writer, MT Vasudevan Nair. Director Shanthivila Dineshan shared some of the interesting stories that happened during the shooting of the film.

The initial stages of shooting were done in Kollengode Palace. Chandhu should have a rudraksha chain on his neck. Mammooty is allergic to brass and was provided with a golden chain for the film. Non-vegetarian food was not allowed inside the palace premises and it was nearly unimaginable for Mammootty to have food without non-vegetarian dishes. He even protested by not having anything for a whole day and started eating inside his car the next day. There was no caravan then- Shanthivila Dinesh said on his YouTube channel.

Oru Vadakkan Veeragadha was one of the timeless classics given to the Malayalam industry by Grahalakshmi Productions and had some of the top names such as P V Gangadharan, MT Vasudevan Nair, Hariharan and Mammootty. Prominent actors like Suresh Gopi, Madhavi, Balan. K. Nair and Captain Raju also acted in the film. K Ramachandra Babu did the cinematography and music by Bombay Ravi. M. S Mani did the editing for the film.

Mammootty won the National award for Best Actor for this performance and the film was also awarded for its screenplay, production design, and costume designing also. Oru Vadakkan Veeragadha also received eight state film awards.
