PALAKKAD: A woman was stabbed to death in a fight with her husband. The dead is Chandrika (52). Her husband Rajan (56) sustained serious injuries and has been admitted at the Thrissur Medical College Hospital.
The incident happened Sunday morning at 5.30 at their rented house in Uppumpadam. The couple, natives of Tholanur in Palakkad shifted to the rented house in Uppumpadam 15 days ago. Rajan and Chandrika lived on the ground floor and their younger daughter on the first floor of the two-storied house. When she came down hearing a big noise, saw her parents lying in a pool of blood. She immediately called the ambulance and took them both to the Palakkad District Hospital, but her mother had lost her life by then. Rajan, who is in a critical condition has been shifted to Thrissur Medical College Hospital. It is not clear whether he is out of danger. His entire intestine has come out. The police also suspect that after stabbing his wife to death, Rajan may have stabbed himself to commit suicide.
The police said there were frequent fights between the two. Rajan had brutally abused and injured Chandrika earlier as well. The police also said that he has some mental issues. He had attempted suicide earlier also. The police indicate that they do not have much relatives. No one in the area knows anything about them. The couple has two children. The police are trying to take a statement from the younger daughter who was at home at the time of the incident. The daughter is in a state of complete shock as she witnessed the incident directly.
