Two students of three-member team visiting mini Ooty die in accident, one injured

MALAPPURAM: Two students died in an accident in Mini Ooty. The accident occurred after a tipper lorry collided with a two-wheeler. The incident happened Sunday morning at around 10 am. The dead are Mufeed (17) and Vinayak (17) of Kottappuram. Another student identified as Aflah (16), who was with them, has been admitted to the hospital.

As it was a holiday, the three had come to see Mini Ooty on their two-wheeler. Mufeed died on the spot and though Vinayak was taken to the hospital, his life could not be

saved. Hospital authorities said Aflah undergoing treatment, is in stable condition.


Meanwhile, a youth died after being hit by a KSRTC recovery vehicle on the Kollam-Theni National Highway. The accident occurred near Pennookkara on the national highway.

The incident happened around 7:30 am today. The KSRTC recovery vehicle hit the scooter the youth was riding. The dead is Sandeep Sudhakaran (27) of Mavelikkara. The accident happened after Sandeep, an electrician, was returning home from Chengannur. After filling petrol from the pump, he got out and was turning towards Chengannur when a recovery van coming from behind hit him. The scooter was completely destroyed in the accident.
