THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actress Priyanka said people like Greeshma, accused in the Sharon murder case, should be the 'killed on the spot' itself. The laws of the country need to be changed. Her response was in an interview given to a YouTube channel as part of her movie promotion.

‘I would say Greeshma should be killed on the spot. Didn’t that mother's son dead, isn't she still grieving? Why is this case being dragged? Is it for her to come out after bail granted from the high court? It should be done on the spot. The one who rapes a three-year-old girl should also be killed on the spot. Besides, there is no point in putting them in jail and allowing them to gain weight. If a mother has lost her son, if she had poisoned him like this, why are they housed in jails without killing them on the spot? Shouldn't the law change? It should be changed,’ said Priyanka.

Meantime, Greeshma, the first accused in the Sharon murder case, has approached the high court seeking to quash the order of the Neyyattinkara Additional Sessions Court awarding her death sentence. Greeshma is presently in the Attakkulangara Jail.

Neyyattinkara Additional Sessions Court Judge A M Basheer, who observed that it was a rarest of rare cases, sentenced her to death. The court had sentenced Greeshma's uncle Nirmala Kumaran Nair to three years in prison and slapped a fine of Rs 2 lakh. The hearing was completed in three months. Greeshma laced poison in Sharon’s drink on October 14 in 2022. Sharon died after eleven days of treatment.
