Defamation case against debutant director Indulakshmi; Shaji N Karun moves against Best Debut Director award winner 

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Film Development Corporation Chairman Shaji N Karun has filed a defamation case against debutant director Indulakshmi. The case was filed in the Thiruvananthapuram Sub Court through advocate PA Ahmed. Shaji N Karun has filed the case alleging that Indulakshmi is spreading baseless allegations about him. He has demanded Rs 25 lakh as compensation.

"Indulakshmi was appointed to direct the film Nila in 2022 as part of a scheme to encourage women film directors. The film was completed and screened in 57 theatres in Kerala, but there was no response from most places. The film earned Rs 1 lakh. However, Indulakshmi made statements regarding the release of the film and said that I intentionally did not send the film to film festivals. The film was sent to 19 festivals including the National Film Festival, but it was not considered," said Shaji N Karun.
