VIZHINJAM: Vizhinjam police broke open the house of a government official and gave it to his wife and twins. Neyyattinkara court ruled in favour of the woman and the twins yesterday. The twins and their mother Neethu broke the lock and entered the house at 7.30 pm with the help of the police following the court order. One of the twins is a kidney patient.

Following Neetu's complaint, the Vizhinjam police had registered a case against Ajith Robinson, a contingent employee of the Ponnani Municipality in Malappuram, for violating the court order and as per the juvenile justice department.

The brutal incident took place last Friday. Having been struggling since noon without food or medicine, Neetu and her children sought shelter at the Vizhinjam police station at night. She had previously filed a domestic violence case against her husband at the Vizhinjam station and obtained a protection order from the Neyyattinkara court. The husband locked the house and left when Neetu went to court to get an extension of the order.

After the incident came to light, District Collector Anukumari and Sub-Collector OV Alfred intervened in the matter and assigned Vizhinjam SHO Prakash to provide protection, food and medicine to the mother and children. On Saturday, Women and Child Protection officers recorded the statements of the woman and the children. Advocate Sreeja Rani appeared in court on behalf of Neetu.
