Lover ends life after girl committed suicide for forcing to marry against her wishes

MALAPPURAM: Soon after an 18-year-old girl committed suicide for forcing her to marry against her wishes, her lover also ended his life. Shaima Siniver of Amayoor was found hanging at her house on February 3. Her male friend 19-year-old Sajeer had then tried to commit suicide by slitting his wrist. The youth, who was undergoing treatment at Manjeri Medical College, fled from the hospital without telling anyone. He was later found hanging at Edavanna.

Shaima died three days after her nikaah. She committed suicide when a reception was to be held. Shaima was not interested in the marriage. Police said that she wanted to marry Sajeer.

An investigation by the police said that she was not interested in the marriage and that she was forced to marry against her wishes.
