Beaten by classmate over bus seat dispute; 14-year-old boy succumbs to injuries

SALEM: A student died of injuries suffered in a fight with a classmate over a bus seat dispute. The brutal attack happened when the victim was coming out of his class.

Kandaguru (14), a ninth-class student of a private school in Edappadi near Salem, died while undergoing treatment in a private hospital. The police have registered a case against the classmate in the incident. The shocking incident took place last Monday evening.

According to reports, both students got into a heated argument over seat sharing inside the bus. The other student irked by the talks, punched hard on Kandaguru’s chest, which made the boy land on the floor of the bus hitting his head. The fall was terrible enough to knock out the boy.

The bus driver saw the incident and immediately took the child to a nearby private hospital. But the child's health condition remained serious and later he was shifted to a hospital in Salem. Kandaguru died last morning while undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit here. The police have informed that a case has been registered against the classmate on the complaint of the child's parents.

Fearing protest from the family of the deceased child, the police have beefed up security arrangements around the school. The authorities fear the possibility of an attack on the school.
